A Year of Doodle Mail
November News, How to Draw a Chevrotain AKA Mouse-Deer, Turkey dances, etc.
It’s so interesting to see all the drawing sheet animals together in one place. I hope you’ve enjoyed sharing these with your students. I know I’ve had fun learning about each one. In the next year, I’d like to return to easier to draw animals, and start adding insects to the mix! As always, if you have requests for specific animals, let me know.
For this month, I learned about the Mouse-Deer, aka Chevrotain. I’ve returned to giving you a second sheet as well - this time it’s a letter-writing prompt.
This was a fun video to learn and see more about the Chevrotain. Don’t be fooled by the scary cover image, it’s very kid-friendly!
Thankfully, I’ve been really busy with lots of fun assignments from Highlights this year. I was excited to have assignments in both Highlights and High Five November issues. It was fun to draw the dancing turkey (I actually gave them sketches for a few different dance moves, see below).
Believe it or not, I actually LIKE drawing bicycles, tricycles, and scooters so this That’s Silly assignment was a good match for me. Plus I snuck some bubbles in too.
Our family pug Hank turned five years old last week! f you’d like to see the funny video of his rapid inhalation of a black & white cookie (made for dogs!) go check out my Instagram. I’ve also been saving pics and videos of Hank since he was a pup in my stories, under Daily Hank.
What I’m Watching (or binge-watched because that’s what we do now):
Bodies on Netflix. If you liked Dark but also don’t want to refer to a map to keep track of the time travel and old/young actors and complicated names. I’ll say no more!
What I’m Listening to:
Breaker Whiskey. It’s a daily serialized podcast, usually under seven minutes per episode. I don’t know where it’s going, but I’m about 75 episodes in and it’s a fun thing to catch each day or catch up on at the end of the week. Compelling but not too stressful. It’s set in an alternate 1970s where it appears only two people are left on earth with no explanation of what happened. Our narrator is on a road trip to find others, using a CB radio as her lone communication.
What I’m…Drinking:
These immunity cubes from Kale Junkie. I don’t care for fruit juice (too sweet) so this gingery-peppery mix in hot water has been a great drink mid-morning. I have a few weeks worth of cubes and hopefully, this will keep me healthy now that germ season is upon us!
Congrats on a year! Thank you for the new drawing guide and the adorable video! And congrats on the Highlights appearances! Woot woot!
Congratulations for the first anniversary 🥳 keep them coming!
